Bacon Wrapped Jalapeños
These jalapeños feel like a decadent treat. A heavy hors d'oeuvre that easily serves as a meal, if you are so inclined. Also great for tailgating and only 3 net carbs per hors d'oeuvre size serving! Double this to make it a full, single item meal.
INGREDIENTS
- 8 fresh, raw medium size jalapeños
- Philadelphia cream cheese, 1 oz per jalapeño
- Hormel Black Label Original Bacon, 2 strips per jalapeño
- Toothpicks for wrapping
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Bake bacon for 11 minutes.
- Cut jalapeños lengthwise and remove seeds.
- Fill jalapeño halves with cream cheese.
- Allow bacon to cool for 2 minutes only.
- Wrap each jalapeño half with one strip of bacon and secure with toothpick(s).
- Broil jalapeños in the oven on high for 12 minutes.
SPECIAL TIPS
- If you are making a large quantity, it is a good idea to cook the bacon in batches for the initial baking. Only bake enough pieces at once that you can comfortably get through wrapping before the strips cool entirely, as they may start to crisp and become difficult to wrap with.
- Be careful when substituting other brands for the cream cheese and bacon. These can significantly change the nutrition profile and increase the carbs by a surprising amount.
