Love your morning oatmeal, but wonder how to reduce the carbs and increase the protein?
Wonder no more! This recipe packs a powerful punch with 40 extra grams of protein by including egg whites, Greek yogurt and protein powder. Chia seeds and hemp hearts boost nutrition with 16% of your potassium and an impressive 56.9% of your magnesium for the day.

Reducing the standard oat serving by 25%, we use only 30 grams to dial back the carbs and achieve a more balanced macronutrient ratio. With over 9 grams of fiber, the net carbs come in at 25 grams (not including optional toppings). These provide fuel for your morning workout or when you have an active day ahead.


INGREDIENTS

Main
  • 30g old fashioned oats (about 1/3 c)
  • 15g chia seeds (about 1.5 tbsp)
  • 15g hemp hearts (about 1.5 tbsp)
  • 100g liquid egg whites (about 1/2 c)
  • 2 oz water (1/4 c)
  • 20g vanilla protein powder (about 2/3 scoop)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 100g plain nonfat Greek yogurt (about 1/3 c + 1 tbsp)
Optional Toppings**
  • berries
  • nuts

INSTRUCTIONS

If you want precision, use a food scale to measure by weight. You can always use the volume measures provided if you do not have or want to use a food scale.
  1. Place your bowl on the food scale, zero the scale and set to measure grams.
  2. Measure oats, chia and hemp directly into the bowl by weight.
  3. Place a liquid measuring cup on the scale and press the Tare button to zero out.
  4. Add 100g of liquid egg whites.
  5. Add enough water to raise the liquid level to 3/4 c (about 1/4 c).
  6. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring between each interval. Total time will be about 90 seconds.
  7. Place your bowl back on the scale and press the Tare button to zero out.
  8. Add 20g protein powder and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder.
  9. Add 100g of yogurt.
  10. Stir and enjoy!
